when 500 error is displayed it can be several reasons for that. Due to the generic nature of this error, it does not tell us anything. We suppose that you haven’t set PHP memory limit or maybe you installed some third party plugin.
Try to set wp_debug to true (line 71) in your wp-config.php file. Also try to set WP_MEMORY_LIMIT to 64M or 256M in your php.ini file or try to contact your host. Most likely, they would have to go in php.ini file to increase or decrease the memory limit.
